A breaks mix for Galaxy Radio

marcreck » 21 March 2007 » In Djing, Mixes, Music » No Comments

Check out the player for a new mix i did for a Galaxy Radio Podcast. Wasn’t sure how much breaks they played on the station, so opted for a more accessible cross section, which i also used as an excuse for playing that wicked first Barry Adamson track, (which is a real fucker to mix out of), lots of my new records, and a big finale.

Here’s the tracklisting. Its the 2nd mix down on the player btw, (even though its the more recent one)…. I just like the way web pages open with Bill Hicks ;)

Something most definite to get into. I’ve copied in their front page, as i never heard of Drax before – www.climatecamp.org.uk

Climate campers are at it again! More than forty people from around the UK met in Leeds on February 17th and 18th and continued working toward organising another Camp for Climate Action this summer from 14th to 21st August. As many of you know, for ten days last August hundreds of people gathered in the shadow of Drax coal-fired power station in Yorkshire to share knowledge and inspiration to tackle the greatest threat to life on Earth, live an example of more just and sustainable alternatives, and confront one of the UK’s biggest polluters in a day of mass direct action.
Next national planning meeting
Bristol on the 17th and 18th March.

Following on from this success, Camp for Climate Action 2007 will take place near to a target relating to aviation or the coal or oil industries. The location will be chosen over the coming months. Organising outreach, fundraising, site practicalities and workshops is underway. Self managed camping, eating and living neighbourhoods around themes and geographical areas are also being planned, contact details are on the website.

There is loads to do, and everyone is invited to get involved – no experience necessary!

The energy descent is going to take a hell of a lot of energy dissent!
Selby was just the beginning!

Thanks to everyone who helped make the camp such a success. Climate Change isn’t just going to disappear – and neither are we. The camp was a turning point, but it was never going to be enough in itself. If you have any constructive feedback from the camp, or experiences that you’d like to share with us, please email them to facilitation[at]climatecamp.org.uk.
Legal support

People who were arrested at the camp can make contact with us by emailing arrestsupport[at]climatecamp.org.uk, if they need any help or support for their court dates or have any complaints or issues with solicitors provided.

The Camp for Climate Action August 26 – September 4 2006

Packed with workshops and debates, the camp was a space to pool knowledge, ideas and inspiration to tackle the greatest threat to life on Earth. Under the shadow of 12 huge cooling towers we converged to take action on the biggest CO2 emitter in northern Europe: Drax power station.

As Drax shareholders rake in the profits, the rest of us tremble as we wake up to the effects of the 21 million tones of carbon released by Drax each year. If we carry on at this rate in the next few years we will have emitted enough C02 to cross the dreaded 2-degree temperature threshold. Predictions at this point include the Greenland ice sheet collapsing and sea levels rising, water shortages in many parts of the world, the extinction of the polar bear, and most worrying of all runaway climate chaos.

The Climate Camp was about squaring up to climate criminals, and on Thursday 31st August hundreds of people converged to take action on Drax. From a colourful kids demo blocking the main gates, to small teams of people locking themselves to machinery inside the fence, the intent was clear. Drax must shut now! For one day this was not business as usual. It is time to push aside the big money makers of the world and make space for a future where the needs of people and the planet come first.

A future where we take collective responsibility for the effect we have on the environment. The Camp was a space to start living in sustainable ways. From a bicycle library to solar energy and locally-sourced food, the carbon footprint of the camp was minimal. It was organised through ‘neighbourhood assemblies’ (directly democratic systems to ensure that everyone’s voice was heard equally), and decisions were taken by consensus.

Together we can make the change!
