The first downtempo mix with Narrative for this new podcast is entitled “Zazen”. Musically it’s a seamless cinematic style mix featuring artists like Burial, Nitin Sahwney, Ghost Poet, & Tipper, and thematically it was inspired by a new found reconnection with one of the oldest forms of mental, spiritual, health and wellness practices in existence…

One of the ideas for Dj Narrative, & this podcast was not just to try & create narrative in the more traditional storytelling or screenplay sense, but also to try to express things musically that are going …

To kick off the dancefloor side of the podcast I thought i’d start with my favourite gig of 2011 – 9pm sunday night in the Kamikaze tent at Shambala Festival.

I’ve posted this in different forms before & its been on soundcloud for a little while for dload so i wont waffle about it too much. Like the 1st Home mix this doesnt feature any of the new found turntablism and unlike the Home mix, there’s no focus whatsoever on narrative, as it was aimed squarely at the festival audience, but …

I’ve started taking bookings again now, and got a couple of corkers to start with!  First up is headling the decks at excellent Hot Club de Swing, &  2nd is following the almighty Nextmen!

Haven’t posted all year so just thought id drop a quick update as the last one is the gig for new years eve! > which was a massive celebration and a magical gig, so real credit to all involved from start to finish…

We also got a rescue dog called Lucy Lurcher who’s proved herself to be pretty creative too

Started to take a few dj bookings recently 2 of which i’m really looking forward to.

The first is another NYE at PST organised by the lovely people at Jibbering in association with a load of my favourite Birmingham promoters and djs. Last years was off the hook and this year the line is the same – plus a load more on top! Advance tickets are only a fiver again from here and it has no closing time!

Off to Corby again this weekend for my second film shoot and a real nice dj gig at the other big date in the Core at Corby Cubes calender – The youth arts Slam!

Not to be confused with the wrestling tournament of the same name, the Slam is a kind of big, end of project showcase featuring performances from all of the long running workshops and courses they’ve had. This one was totally sold out and full of quality performances of all ages.
