I’ve been taking 6/12 months off to get some groundwork done, so i can really concentrate on my music and djing in 2011, and i’m pleased to say there’s already 3 collaborations on the horizon, all of which i’m really looking forward to!

One is with one of my favourite producers, another is with my 2 favourite vjs (i’ll write a seperate post for that soon), and the 3rd is a very recent one with a very talented vocalist, so i thought i’d blog a little bit about who they are …

I wrote a track called Drop Beats Not Bombs in around 2007. It was the first breaks track i felt happy with & was intended for 2 gigs – One for the night itself where i had the honour of playing the opening set of the re-opening of the Que club, and one was for our 2nd Project X Presents.

I played the track at a few gigs and to a few people, and always had a really positive response, but at some point fairly soon after i decided the production …

So this was my first commission as Reckorder Productions and came thanks to Anne Marie Pope in her role for Black Country Festival & Events. The brief  was to write a track that could be used for black country festival & events partnership for a dvd they were making about festivals in the black country. I was given the video to work from, and after the initial consultation it was fairly obvious the style i should go down

Soundcloud is a fairly new service that i’ve been a member of since beta testing.

It “lets you move music fast & easy. The platform takes the daily hassle out of receiving, sending & distributing music for artists, record labels & other music professionals”. For me i thought it would a nice way of sharing mixes and tracks as the player’s really nice, and getting feedback as the (customisable) player allows comments.

I bought the pro lite account, which allows me to upload a fair amount of tracks …

or as much as i can remember off the top of my head anyway!..Don’t normally do these, but it feels a good thing for me to do as they say it’s always good to see where you’ve been before deciding where you are going to go…

I’m having a massive overhaul at the mo of everything to make way for a few bits of kit, trying to get as much in check by the end of year to make way for 3 new technologies which are set to raise the bar for 3 areas of my life….

Today i also got invited to a website/service i’ve been after for quite a while, (but interestingly especially this week!)…

So this thursday is the screening of the Finished with the War Piece as part of this years “New Vibes”.  It’s a dance on film piece choreographed by Lucy Nicholls, directed by Liam D’Authereau, with performances by Saffy Setohy, Pippa Lund, and Krista Vuori, and also features my first 12 minute soundtrack.

This is the first time i’ve been asked to compose a track for a dance on film piece, yet this will be my second outing as part of new vibes, as a dj/vj/dance piece i worked on with Birmingham …

This week its been all about Cubase and this Dvd track. Its going well, and i’ve learnt how to link up parts of my studio i never even new existed, but its been long long days!..
