or as much as i can remember off the top of my head anyway!..Don’t normally do these, but it feels a good thing for me to do as they say it’s always good to see where you’ve been before deciding where you are going to go…

So this thursday is the screening of the Finished with the War Piece as part of this years “New Vibes”.  It’s a dance on film piece choreographed by Lucy Nicholls, directed by Liam D’Authereau, with performances by Saffy Setohy, Pippa Lund, and Krista Vuori, and also features my first 12 minute soundtrack.

This is the first time i’ve been asked to compose a track for a dance on film piece, yet this will be my second outing as part of new vibes, as a dj/vj/dance piece i worked on with Birmingham …

This week its been all about Cubase and this Dvd track. Its going well, and i’ve learnt how to link up parts of my studio i never even new existed, but its been long long days!..

Ah with all the promoting “stuff” yesterday i forgot to report my first two music commissions! I’ve been writing music for quite a few years now, and this is the first time i’ve been commissioned to produce something from scratch at least!…

Today was the first studio session with the multi talented vocalist and flute player Amrita who we saw perform at the Rainbow last night.

Was great to have the opportunity to record some quality vocals, and some classical flute, and Amrita’s warm personality coupled with a professional approach meant for a very satisfying studio sesh.
In the eve i played around in cubase with some ideas to compliment the recordings, and already we have a few tracks coming together. Early ideas are something on a eastern/egyptian sounding tip, courtesy of a flute …

Is coming along really well it has to be said…The standard i have for anything i would put around for general hearing, is just as high as any records i would buy as a dj, so in my head at least, when it does come together it will be on the level.

Also important to me is write a range of music, and not just breaks tracks. I have one acoustic instrumental with a few words, one almost finished breaks track, with drop beats not bombs mix, a dubby track and then a well produced but early in the arrangement breaks number…

…performed the 10 minute version of our peace not war at dropbeatnotbombs set, at the creative festival type thing in a warehouse last night.. Apparently they were amazing, and the whole thing went down really well.
