Project X Presents 2 – Journey to the Edge of Somewhere – Sat 3rd November 2007

3 November 2007 No Comment

So tonight’s the big night, and things are most definately on course for something very large :)

Last night we had our full dress rehearsal, and i’m most pleased to say it went through nice and smoothly, highlighting what needs to be done, and realising that we’ve most definitly got something very special for our audience tonight. I was trying wherever possible last night, to look from the the eyes of an audience member, who may not be aware of the hero’s jounrney, or of the narrative behind the show, and i really did feel like i was taken on a journey, both internally from an emotional point of view, and externally from the flow of this “omnimedia” show. Literally from walking through the project x doors (pictured above, and made by Rich Beard), into the market place with Kindle theatre, Unterwelt, Poets and Capoeiro, with the performer’s strong narrative, Reg Hunter’s emotional comedy, and all of the various music, lights, performance and visuals that followed over the 3 beautifull dressed stages, i can honestly say i it is unlike anything else i have experienced, and i’ve been having flashes of the various points of the night since i have woke up this morning!

I think everyone was glad that we had the chance this year to go through it fully, and experience it without the audience being there, as it became very clear what worked and what needed to be done (with some hard work being done today on integrating the lights and visuals.) Saying that a fair few people dropped by to check it out throughout the evening (it was an open dress rehearsal after all!), which was a very nice surprise, and made the whole process a lot more productive.

There are some pictures here from me, and here from Matt Murtagh, and a more detailed blog from Rich Batsford here. Hope you can make tonight. (Its in the guardian you know! ;)
