November Breaks Reviews for December 2009 Edition of Night Times

The Night Times seems to be running a little less frequently at the mo, (probably due to the high workload involved), but their content seems to be getting even better, (so i guess its a fair pay off).

About Mr Elephant (Night Times Freshers Edition 2009)

Little feature on Mr Elephant appeared in the recent Night Times publication which gives a little overview of what we do as Mr Elephant.

20, 000 copies of the Night Times have been distributed this month to showcase the best of brums underground and music nightlife to our new arriving students. Copies can be found for free at your local music venues in Birmingham and for those that havent come across the paper, its a must follow publication in our opinion and we lucky to have it in the city, featuring music reviews, events and local information….

To kick us of this year on the Night Time’s chartage front, i thought i’d share the 5 classic breaks tunes in my record box, that are pretty much guaranteed to set any big room breaks venue right off. These are not new, but they are big phat crowd pleasing breakbeat stonkers!

Djing at The Night Times #2

The second installment of the Celebrate Birmingham’s Underground gigs saw the Night Times teaming up with Evolve and Custom Made. We were asked to do Mr Elephant again, but as it was at the Custard Factory, we didn’t feel there would be enough space to do the kind of thing we did last time, so i ended up being involved just from behind the decks for this one, which as it turned out was superb!!..

It’s all in the Mix

Magnetic, Evolve, Trigger, Breakthru, Osmosis, Drop Beats Not Bombs, Jam Jah, Mr Elephant, House of God, Custom Made, My Bass, Broken Minds, the list goes on…

It reads like an elaborate and complex cocktail of contrasting ingredients that bears the danger of becoming explosive, much like the often schizophrenic face of the Birmingham underground. However, like the coffee of Kahlúa that binds the unexpected combination of vodka and milk in a White Russian, the mash up of genres slipped down wonderfully thanks to the open mindedness of the spectators: the key ingredient so core to the prevalence of the Birmingham underground scene…

Celebrate Birmingham’s Underground

I’ve got a review of Project x Presents show to do, and loads of pictures, but this week i literally havent stopped from organising and promoting our huge Free 12 hour warehouse and beach party @ the rainbow beach and warehouse this saturday (20th Sep)
